The firm

Built by retired officers who know how boards read a file.

ROTC Consulting is a coaching firm of retired officers who coach families through the Army, Navy and Marine Corps, and Air Force ROTC scholarship process, from first evaluation to finished file.

Our mission

We are the most comprehensive non-governmental source regarding winning ROTC scholarships.

When ROTC scholarship policies change, we work to understand what the new rules mean for applicants.

That knowledge moves through our website, our podcast, our books, and our courses. And each year, a select group of students is guided through the process personally.

How we work

3 tenets. No shortcuts.

  1. 1

    Evaluation before commitment.

Every family starts with the ROTC Scholarship Blueprint. One hour with LTC Kirkland produces a clear read of scholarship competitiveness and a written plan for what must improve. Families leave with that plan whether or not they continue. The Scholarship Track and Interview Preparation are available after the Blueprint.

  2. 2

    Officer-led, never group.

Students work directly with retired officers, matched by branch. LTC Kirkland coaches Army and Air Force ROTC applicants. CAPT Roberts coaches Navy and Marine Corps ROTC applicants. There is no group coaching and no handoff to junior staff.

  3. 3

    The whole file.

A scholarship board does not read fitness scores, essays, letters, interviews, and medical qualification separately. It reads one file. So we score the file together and coach it together.

The knowledge system

What we learn, families can use.

Coaching is the smallest part of what the firm produces. Everything we discover about the scholarship process is published, recorded, or taught.
